Elizabeth Vinsant is a nursing leader, Certified Developmental Disabilities Nurse (CDDN), and advocate with more than 25 years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including 16 years as an IDD nurse. After beginning her career as direct care staff while earning her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Elizabeth recognized the significant gap in healthcare knowledge surrounding IDD care and the realities of community-based support for individuals with complex medical and support needs. Motivated to help bridge that gap, she returned to school to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has since dedicated her nursing career to advocacy, education, and improving healthcare outcomes and meaningful quality of life for individuals with IDD.

Throughout her career, Elizabeth has worked closely with individuals, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams across community and healthcare settings. She is passionate about person-centered care, practical education, and empowering both direct support professionals and healthcare providers with real-world knowledge that improves outcomes and dignity for individuals with IDD and medically complex conditions. Known for her collaborative spirit and compassionate approach, Elizabeth is committed to promoting inclusion, wellness, and greater understanding within both the IDD and medical communities.

Elizabeth is currently completing her Master of Science in Nursing Administration. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her family, horseback riding, relaxing at the beach, and enjoying the outdoors.
